The call that coffee was ready had not been shouted out but I was ready so grabbed my mug and set out through the morning darkness. There was none to be found but I did find Zack scrounging around in a raft for something or other. On asking him if the coffee was ready, he barely lifted his head to reply, “We can’t find any”.
No coffee. The thought of such a thing is enough to bring an instant withdrawal h
A Welcome Back to Creeking
Posted by Tink ;), 12 September 2013 · 2,216 views This past Saturday a group of about 12 people from the CdB met up in the Fallowfield parking lot with one thing on our minds, the Beaver river. After a night of partying for some one of us, three alarms to get out of bed and some breakfast muffins, we were headed to New York to experience the Beaver river that so many had raved about after Beaverfest the weekend before.
I was in a car with Luc and Jon, imposing on the buddin

The 2013 Inter-Jurisdictional Convention of Female Paddlers
Posted by Cortney, 09 July 2013 · 2,565 views It is hard to say when the Guelph Kayak Club and the Kawartha Whitewater Paddlers became adversaries. While there is much speculation amongst paddlers, the facts are much like Harris’ alleged time on the river; elusive. However, once a year the female paddlers of these clubs come together in an effort to build bridges, make peace and repair the damage imposed by their ego-driven counterparts.
This is a girls weekend. Yes, onl

One of the things I love about kayaking is the names given to rapids, holes, waves, and rocks on the river. Names like Two Four, Phil’s Hole, Screaming Beaver and Pillow Rock come to mind. On our local river, we have paid homage to specific people in our club. We have “Kurt’s corner” (named after one of our club founders, Kurt Schlee) and “Steve’s Hole” (named after the, at least, 3 Steve’s that swam out of it

Best get the numbers down before we forget. At the moment it appears that the GKC kicked some serious butt. First off the rafts. Our team of misfits manage to place 3rd and 4th of 27 Esprit Rafts.
That is pretty amazing considering they don't raft together. But it also put them 6th and 7th overall.
Amazing effort. Our rival club the KWP took one look at our raft team and bailed out. Th

It was a really fun competition and it was nice seeing all my friends again. I also went out Sunday for the morning and afternoon. I learned to roundhouse and got it consistent and I got a few really nice blunts as well and the wave was really good.
Last weekend I was in Valleyfield for a freestyle c

This past weekend we made a trip to the Marmora area on Sunday to paddle Beaver Creek with a couple friends from Ottawa as well as some people they know from the CDB. We arrived (on time!) at the Subway parking lot to meet up with all the other folks. There was a medium
Meefy Mississauga

When Hawkeye exclaimed with a sparkling grin, full of the self satisfaction of discovering a new witticism - "It's Meefy Harris. The point between medium and beefy" - it was hard not to let him know I'd come up with it earlier in the day, perhaps even minutes before within earshot. So I didn't let him not know. "Yah Wayne, I said that already". He seemed unconvinced.
